To start off. Let me tell you a story.
In this story, you have the two main characters. Miss Ally and Mister Matt.
They prayed for each other before they knew each other’s names. Each living out their days seeking God in all they did. They made mistakes along the way but all and all, they loved God. That fateful day came when God brought them together. Matt heard in his spirit, “Bone of my bone, flesh of my flesh! I have found my beloved at last!” Her spirit screamed the same thing but she wasn’t as aware of it yet. The days went on, some ups and downs, but overall they were madly in love. Matt proposed and Ally said yes, so now here we are today.
Marriage.
The coming of two souls being knitted together as one. They have found the one whom their soul loves.
Regardless of how God writes your love story, know this:
This marriage? Whether it happens tomorrow or years from now; this divine partnership is part of your calling. This upcoming chapter that you are preparing for is not only about your marriage but about the one who brought you together.
Always remember that you will love each other best when you are most satisfied in Him.
1 John 4:12
No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us.
God created marriage to replicate His image on this earth.
Ephesians 5: 1-2
Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
You see, marriage in the beginning is amazing. It’s lovely and it’s grand. You get the butterflies and are so enthralled with each other. The amazingness of marriage doesn’t end but the rose-colored glasses do come off.
You see the imperfect. It gets hard. The reality of what unconditional love really means hits you. You’re not going off of just the feeling anymore, but the choice to love regardless of it. This is Agape Love.
Agape is Greek and is defined as the unconditional love of God. It’s the love that sent Jesus down to die on the cross for our sins. It is the covenant love of God. God’s love isn’t fickle and isn’t circumstantial. It is steadfast and true. And when that fateful day comes, you will be entering into a covenant relationship that reflects that same exact love for one another.
Isn’t that so like God though in His sheer perfection?
Every single thing on this earth was made to glorify Him and marriage is on top of that list.
This covenant with one another requires commitment. It requires selflessness and faithfulness as you submit one to another in love.
Marriage causes us to be different. It’s a reflection of how much Christ loved us. Don’t ever strive for your own personal happiness in marriage because when your own wants and needs become the center, Christ stops being the center. Thank God for His grace. It empowers us to love the way He did and to choose His will above our own.
Always keep Christ at the center. He is your rock and solid foundation. Where Jesus goes, you will go and not as separate individuals but as one. Remember that nothing will ever be able to separate you from His love. Not death, not life, not things present, nor things to come. Nothing will ever separate you from the love of God. You will live all your ordained days here on earth with your love filled with joy. And then that faithful day will come when you will meet your King and Savior face to face. The ultimate goal and purpose of it all. The author of your story.
