Trusting God

What does trusting in God mean to you?

Trusting God to me means to rest in Him. To rest in His character. In who He is. In His goodness. To remember that His promises are yes and amen and that He is who He says He is.

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Another version says, He know the thoughts He thinks toward you

The MSG translation says:

I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out - plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.

What is it that your not trusting God in today?

Is it finances? Lean on these:

Philippians 4:19

“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”

Deut. 28:12

The Lord will open to you his good treasury, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hands. And you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.

If it’s uncertainty about your future look at this:

Proverbs 16:3

"Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and He will establish your plans."

Colossians 3:2

Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.

story about not giving up - I had to shift my perspective. when we shift our gaze back to Jesus, everything else falls into place.

This world is NOT our home. This is all temporary compared to what is to come. To see life in light of eternity is living for Jesus Christ and focusing on the things of heaven and not this earth.

Life is temporary and it’s so fleeting and at the end of the day, this world is not our home and our focus is always on what is unseen, not what is seen.

So what is it that you are not trusting God in today?

Lysa Terkurst said it perfectly in her book, The Best Yes.

" We must let our identity, not our insecurity be the first thing that walks into every situation and decision we face. "

We are sons and daughters of the most high God and we are fearfully and wonderfully made. We are seated in heavenly places with Him. So what is there to fear?

We can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. So in reality what can man ever do?

What stops us from taking God at His word?

Jesus tells us to have child-like faith. A child believes and receives without a doubt or a question. A child that knows that they are loved trusts in Him.

Matthew 18: 3 And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

This is talking about child-like faith. We are called to mature spiritually and not stay like children but to still have that heart posture of believing God's word without question. A child believes and a child trusts. They have an element of not being tainted by the reasoning of the world. They just believe.

God will indeed do what He says He will do. We don't need to doubt or wonder or worry.

Proverbs 3:5 says:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.

It doesn’t say to trust in the Lord with some of your heart- but with ALL of your heart.

And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.

To know means to perceive, to develop a relationship with, to recognize and to understand.

If there is an area in your life where you are not trusting in Him, go back to the basics.

Certain things within us are exposed when we question and that is okay. There is no condemnation. Just love. God helps us and invites us into conversation. We can go to God for anything and ask Him whatever is on our hearts. It's an invitation to know His character in a greater way. He desires intimacy with us and is faithful to guide in truth and in love.

He already knows, so why not be honest with Him. : ) He loves you.

Hebrews 4:16

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
