During this quarantine you might find yourself in habits you may have never wanted to participate in… I don’t really want to generalize but I have realized that we as humans tend to search for comfort in so many different things.
What have you found comfort in?
Are you at the end of yourself and turning to food or anything else to seek comfort?
What is your source?
What are you looking to fulfill that deep longing in your soul?
Whether it’s a relationship, food, success, alcohol, money etc. we tend to seek comfort in things that will not satisfy us. In life, when we get to the end of ourselves we find that no amount of money, materialistic thing, or anything else will ever fully be able to fill what only Jesus can. He really is the way, the truth, and the life and no one can get to the Father except through Him. He IS life.
How do I know?
Well, if I can be frank, I have tried it all. The excess of partying and drinking. The lure of success through the worldly lenses of money and things… I could go on and on… but nothing. Nothing could satisfy those dark nights of the soul as I searched and longed for what could fulfill my deepest desire. None of it. In the hopes to hold on to what could possibly satisfy my needs, I realized that none of it really mattered. I still wound up empty. I still wound up searching and longing and hoping that the answer would pop up. Maybe if I tried harder, or maybe if I could hit this goal or that goal, I could be happy. But in in the end, without Jesus, it really is all meaningless. So what happens when you finally realize this?
Well, the time comes when you really meet your Savior… or more so… He meets you. He kneels down eye level and looks you in the eye and says, “I love you, I see you, and I am for you. I don’t condemn you. No go and sin no more.”
Do you see it? Can you picture Him?
If you can’t that is okay. Give it some time. This savior I am speaking of?
His name is Jesus.
He is quite the gentleman, waiting for you at the door of your heart. He won’t force his way in… He will wait. Patiently and tenderly. His arms are wide open for you if you would just take that step and look Him in his eyes. As you seek His face you will find that He is gentle and kind and tenderly leads you to turn from those old ways. You see, His goodness is what leads you to repentance. His kindness is what leads you to His feet. There is a better way for you my friend. There really is.
His name is Jesus.
Step into His fullness and become all He has created you to be in Him.
